PHOENIX (Feb. 25, 2020) — FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel, downtown Phoenix’s hip and art-centric hotel located at 1100 North Central Avenue, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new associate curators — Brandi Read and Caroline Hubbell. The new associate curators will provide artistic coordination from developing exhibits from conception to execution and expanding the arts and culture program of the new FOUND:RE Contemporary vision. They will work closely with the artist continuing the FOUND:RE’s commitment supporting the arts community.
“We are thrilled to welcome Read and Hubbell and are certain their level of experience, expertise and talent will contribute greatly to the expanded FOUND:RE Contemporary art program,” says Renee Gonzales of the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel. “We look forward to sharing exciting new exhibits, shows and other art-centric events through FOUND:RE Contemporary with the assistance of our new associate curators.”
Read earned a BFA in painting, magna cum laude at Western Michigan University School of Art in 2006. She has received numerous grants and awards for her work, including a travel grant from Lee Honors College and the KADI artists grant from The Greater Arts Council of Kalamazoo. Read has exhibited her work nationally in numerous group as well as via solo exhibitions. She is currently an MFA candidate for drawing and painting at Arizona State University.
Hubbell is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, but spent most of her childhood in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
She graduated from Penn State University with a BFA in drawing and painting. She is a figurative painter who works primarily in oil and gouache. Her work focuses on contradictory societal pressures that determine how women choose to aesthetically present themselves. Inspired by “fashion fantasy” proportions in fashion illustration, her figures appear distorted, uncanny, and grotesque. She is currently in her third year of graduate studies at Arizona State University.
